Im not sure but some people have "beef" with kickboxing. Cause the boxing gyms that where i live are either really far away or they teach it as a "secondary thing" meaning they have like 2 classes a week for it i switched to Muay Thai(Thai Kickboxing). I'd been doin standard boxing for 3 months really enjoyed it and was progressing quite well and really enjoyed it, i wanted to learn some stand up after 4 years of freestyle wrestling. But since the gym i was at was reeeaallllyyy far away and basicaly out in the boonies i had to give it up and switch to Muay Thai. The good thing is i can train everyday at this gym. I have to say this whole kicking thing is kinda weird tho but i think after awhile i'l get the concept down lol. Anyone else do Muay Thai or Standard Kickboxing?

i train in muay thai, and i actually have a question about the boxing portion. my kicks are my main weapon because im better with them then my hands. when i throw punches i dont really follow through with them because of getting caught into the clinch or getting knee coming in and always thinking about getting kicked. well i was wondering if it would be better to just come in and commit to the punch combo because i have a hard time landing my punches right now. is it just because i dont commit to my punches or is it that much harder to land punches then kicks? or is there something else to it?

I've discovered boxing and muay thai compliment each other very well, certainly has given me an edge in the may thai ring, although, i must admit i feel like throwing some roundhouse kicks and elbows when im sparring in boxing. I've trained in muay thai for 10 years (since i was 14) and have been boxing for 6 years.

I took a few Judo classes while waiting for my eardrum to heal up, and after only a month or so, I found that my inside game in boxing has improved considerably. I am a lot more attuned to my opponent's movement, I anticipate less, and I find myself using my hooks to turn my opponent to get an angle on him rather than just pummeling him. There is definitely an advantage to having other fighting styles under your belt.
