  • Question? need a tip!!

How do you spar someone who is shorter, stronger, and weights more than you and who likes to get inside and do damage?? If you ever seen Ricky Hatton fight before he fights just like that same style.

OK I was sparring this dude in the gym today and I did good sometimes keeping him on the outside since I'm the taller guy. When he got in the inside I was gettin messed up. I tried to swing him off me multiple times it worked until he started using his strength and weight to keep me on the ropes. I found out that I wasn't bobbing and weaving, I'll just move out the way so I wouldn't get hit. Some told me I need to start moving my head around instead of working the legs trying to get out the way. He's a pressure fighter. I weight between or in the range of 133-136lbs it depends on some days. He weights between 140-143.
I got the speed he got the strength and more experience. I always make sure my hands are up tho.

well if you are taller than him, I say the obvious thing to do is keep pumping the jab and keep him at bay, if he tries to get inside, throw uppercuts.

Throw out lateral movement and throw the 1-2.If you feel him getting too close just spin off of me. Or tie him up.

Use the jab and striaght right while he's on the outside. When he gets in, clinch until either you can get broken up by the ref or you can land a few good uppercuts. Keep moving, keep him out, and work the long range combinations.

All you need to do is work him with the jab
use double jabs and throw the right hand right after
it should stop him from coming in and doing damage
bounce around dont stay in one spot
