    Mouthpiece

I was given a mouthpiece by my trainer when I started and I'm trying to get it to fit right. Now, I know it's a cheap one, maybe like 2 dollars max, but it still works.

I boiled it and tried to get it to fit onto my upper teeth, but it still feels a little bulky and loose. Should I bite down with my bottom teeth as well to create to impressions?

Yeah you should. It should say that on the packet too surely?

Boil it, then bite firmly then suck on it giving it pressure onto your teeth. (it'll burn a little cos it should be hot) then get your finger and thumb and push it a little more.

It should now be perfect. If not - reboil and do it again. If it seems to cut you or chaffe your gum, get some scissors and trim it down.

You should bite with both sets of teeth. Under the gum shield it should be lumpy from the imprint of your lower set of gnashers.

You should be able to open your mouth without it dropping or feeling loose.

sleep with it. no joke. your saliva will create a mold to your liking. Ay, if I wore my Ballistic Helmet for 43 days straight in Afghan, (removed only to shower) you can wear your mouth guard for a few nights!

I already wear a nightguard due to my extreme grinding of teeth. So, I won't do that.

I will however, try to boil it further down.

Damn, it's so much harder to breath with a mouthpiece. Got to get used to that now too.

I agree 100%. I'm actually having the same problem. My trainer gave me a cheapy mouthpiece and it won't stay for ****. Everytime I open my mouth a little to breathe, it falls and blocks the airway and throws me off. I spend more time concentrating on trying to breathe than on the guy i'm sparring with and it's really frustrating. Someone also posted about doing a small underbite when molding the mouthpiece? I was told that's not good to do. Do you need a better mouthpiece or can you seriously make those ****ty 3 dollar ones work for you? Anyone?

My mouthpiece has a gap in the middle that I can breath through when I'm gassed even while biting down.

Yup I have an Everlast double mouthpiece and it has a hole in the middle...It's a pretty nice mouthguard and it was really cheap too(like $5 or so I think)
