  • Coaches and AM Boxers: Does aiming to make weight help you to maintain your focus?

I ask this because my genetics and bone structure puts me 20kg (44 lbs) above the Super Heavyweight lower limit of 91kg (200lbs). This is after me actually getting my weight down after training hard. I think I could possibly get down to 230lbs. So as it stands I couldn’t get down to heavyweight. I’m just interested to know if anyone out there with similar genetics (Squarecircle, Danny_Stash) find that this affects their focus or training knowing that your not aiming for a weight category? And could this be the reason why some give Super Heavyweights and Professional Heavyweights the tag of being “lazy”?

I haven't had a problem with maintaining focus as I love the sport and give 110% dedication to it, but just wanted to know everyone's thoughts.

    Cheers
