(Heavyweights) on 7+ mile runs do you carry water with you?

    I saw you wrote in another thread about jogging 30 seconds then running 2m 30 then repeating this interval over and over. Do you do this for all your runs? What distance do you normally cover when running intervals?

      the thing with intervals is, I do it accustomed to how tired I am. If I'm tired as hell I'm just going to keep a steady pace. But if I'm not I'll do the intervals to get me to that exhausted place we love so much ..I do them on any distance, moreso on the shorter runs though. I think hard interval training is best on a 2 or 3 mile run. im doing these long distance runs at nighttime so i can melt off some of this weight.

      about running, I used to suck at it, but you cover these three bases and you can run a long distance without a problem.

      In my experience i have found 3 things very important to be able to run a long distance and keep a straight head.
      1> Don't go hard early on if you're running more than 5 miles. You need to save those muscles for when you're like a mile away from home, then you step it up and gas out. dont gas out early, very important.
      2>If your shoes suck, so will the run. I use the best air maxes money can buy, and i got em cheap on ebay (50 bucks.)
      3>Morale. i didnt realize how much running with an ipod helps. I swear I can run at least twice as far with an ipod, rather than without it. Get an ipod and some good headphones, put your music on there whatever it may be, and it will more than double your running efficiency.

      Hey Dark. I bet your best punch is a hook/uppercut isnt it.

        number 1 is absolutly correct square the first 5 minutes of a run is vital you have to keep a steady pace so you don't exhaust yourself, you may think well I'll go out fast and I'll take it easy for a mile midway through but your exhaustion won't go away no matter how easy you take it unless you ease yourself into the run

          Amen to the iPod suggestion. That's what I use, that and some water. I used to be able to do about eight miles a day, a few years ago, which I am actually working on beating, which will be around 12 or so miles a day. It isn't that horrible when you have music and just focus on what you're doing. Although at first it can be aggrivating if you haven't ran in awhile.

            cheers forthat bro, it's good hearing from other fighters in the superheavy's to hear how they train and stuff.

            Yeah, my left hook and uppercut has alot of power behind them. When I start throwing hooks at the heavybag people stop what they're doing and start looking around, but i'm trying to knuckle down and improve on speed and gain some versatility. Everyone keeps telling me about my power but i don't want to become reliant on it.
