Using steroids runs contrary to everything that being a boxer is about. Boxing is about EARNING IT. It is about ENDURING. It is about overcoming pain, and hunger, and fatigue, and fear -- hell, you have to overcome your most basic animal instincts when those instincts scream at you to NOT step through the ropes because that guy in there intends to hurt you.

If you don't have the guts and the courage and the strength of will to make your body strong naturally -- which, seriously, is the EASIEST part of this sport -- what the hell kind of boxer do you think you'll make?

This is not a game about shortcuts.

**** shortcuts and **** steroids. Lift. Run. Train. Eat. Suffer.

    Earn it.

I'm all with you, but giving false reasons for why you shouldn't do something does more harm than good. Steroids will NOT make you lose speed. On the contrary. You think Ben Johnson would have used steroids to help him become the fastest man in the world at the time? Or how about Roy Jones, was he slow in his prime? Both known steroid users, who tested positive.

There are enough good reasons to stay away from steroids, so don't make up false ones.

I'm not saying either side is right, but I don't like this argument...First of all, you're assuming that all steroids are equal(unless Johnson and Jones took the same stuff).

Second, a sprinter's speed is not the same kind of speed a boxer has.

And third, just because RJJ was fast on steroids, doesn't mean the steroids didn't make him slower. Unless of course you know when in his career he began using steroids and you have compared his speed in the different fights.

But I'm definitely NOT arguing in favor of steroids.

          Steroids work.

I don't condone their use (see my post above) but they DO work. They would make a boxer bigger, stronger, meaner, and -- to some degree, depending how much muscle mass he added -- faster. It is possible to pump up to the point where you are losing handspeed, flexibility, and endurance, but it would be a simple matter to train back down, boxing being an immensely catabolic activity.

The gains from anabolic steroids do not stay with you. When I was using steroids, I lost about half my gains in the amount of time it took me to gain them, and it started immediately after I finished each cycle. Six weeks to gain, six weeks to lose about half of it.

Again, I am NOT condoning steroid use. It's a ***** way out of a dilemma that is supposed to make a man out of you.

Those weren't arguments really. Just down to earth examples.

As for the "sprinter's speed is not the same kind of speed a boxer has" claim, you're flat out wrong. There's no physiological difference between the explosiveness of a sprinter and the explosiveness of a boxer. It is used to do different things, but the physiological part, which is what steroids influence, is the same.

Steroids help you get stronger. Explosiveness is a direct relation to strength, ie. the higher strength, the higher potential for explosiveness. Therefore steroid use will ENHANCE speed. Hence the steroid use of before mentioned athletes, among many many others in sports that require speed.

                  Why?

                  Why would you use them?

                  Ask yourself these qiestions....

#1. are your workouts absolutely as close to perfect as possible?

                  #2. Is you diet PERFECT

#3. Haveyou reached your absolute highest genetic potential? has your body got to the point where it cannot grow stronger anymore?

If you answer no to any of those dont even consider it yet.

How much research have you done?

This steroid is derived from testosterone, and its unique in the way that it has way more anabolic effects than androgenic effects (masculating effects) meaning that unless u take it long-term the chances of getting the common dreaded side effects such as breat *********** or ball shrinking is quite rare. Another reason for this is because it blocks estrogen receptors making it impossible for ur estrogen levels to rise. This is the stuff that Ben Johnson used to achieve his sprints, and Barry Bonds has been accused of using this stuff. It doesen't add much weight in comparison to the solid muscle and strength you will get.The downside is that since its good, its expensive, and also that since its altered testosterone and not synthetic testosterone like other steroids, the liver has never seen it before giving it a high liver toxicity. This won't be a problem in the short-term use however long term use of this isn't recommended. The only reason I would ever use this stuff would be due to prolonged injury, example: Why sit around injured for 6 months if u could take this stuff and be back in 2 months
this is awful advice. This **** stanozolol (winny, winstrol) is HORRIBLE on your joints. It dries out your joints. This is the WORST thing for a bozer to take. If you do it you have to do it with a testosterone to keep the joints lubed up. If you take test you need to take an anti estrogen. And for all the ***s who are gonna blow me up on steroid ****. I am educated not a juice head.. Hope this helps.

yeah that is an effect some people have experienced, which would be a problem. Once u get to that point though ur ****in with all sorts of ****. Only reason I would ever take this stuff is if i had a serious prolonged injury. I would take the****utic doses and only take it short-term.
