its probably more for his benefit than yours so he's not going to want to blast you out inside a round. just try to work on things and dont worry too much about if you're going too hard.. a 3-0 has got to be able to handle anything a one month amateur throws at him. if the guy's not a prick you'll learn plenty and itll be great experience.
yeah you were right about that. the trainer was giving him tips and saying hardly nothing to me. he was telling the guy to throw combos and whatnot. I think I got like 2 hits off on em. and yeah he was taking it real easy at first. The coach asked me did I want him to turn it up after each round and I always said yeah. The first round was just touching gloves and slow movement in circles....Im a southpaw and hes ortho so.
by the beginning of the 3rd round I was real winded but I still gave him the ok to turn up a little more and ended round curled in the corner while the guy was straight molly whopping me.
bad thing is I didnt do as well as I thought I would. def better than the first time but since this spar was with someone with a few years experience I didnt feel any improvement other than I took the ass whupping better this time.
good thing- our gym is small and it only has about 20 regulars maybe so it seems like the coach wants to pair me up with the pro for sparring matches for a lil bit to break me in and probaly to get him accustomed to a different fighters style maybe......its just to give the pro a living, breathing, and moving punching bag to practice combos. either way it will be really good for me regardless.
I got another spar set up for next tuesday afternoon. Im gonna shadow box all weekend and just post how it went in this thread the next thursday.
oh and the advice about going all out on the pro quoted above was pretty good. said he was dodging my shots pretty easy. hopefully in the future I can post up some videos.

hey man thats good for you sparring with pros you'll get better and better as u keep sparring with them. good job man
no **** but just because you can fight doesnt mean **** if you aint fit
ok, agreed. i dont understand ur point, but i agree with you on that. people spar to get fit, to get into fighting shape, to get as much experience as possible to lessen the nervousness before a fight...
should I even go to this? its my second but first with this gym im at so im thinking Im going up against somebody like myself. who been working out for a coupla months. but a pro?
hmmmmm.
I figure hes gonna take it real easy so should I go all out and try to convince him to whooop my ass or just lay back and throw a coupla jabs or what?
**** got me kinda nervous now that I think about it. I dont got the best technique or nothing but when I go to the gym I give it my all and I think people notice. Im gonna be on stage!!!!!
oh yeah this is the $30/yr. gym. Its real small so I just I gotta spar with whoevers available.
should I pop a pill or yellow jacket or something. Its only sparring but I wanna be prepared.
there were Pro's in my gym, And I would bend over backward to spar with them. You learn more
