Be careful with it man. As said get a second opinion, and see other people. When getting a second opinion probably best not to tell them youve seen a doctor already because they tent to agree with each other apparently

I was told not to do any press ups or exercise that made use of my upper body until physio therapy starts.

I can throw a really good jab and then right hand perfectly but the left hook sticks and hurts allot when it dislocates. I could switch hit, my right hook is less sticky and is powerful.

        suggestions? advice?

what about joint supplements? do they work?

In order to be an athlete you have to have the right sort of body. Athletes are born they are not made. If you have the right genes your body will tend to build up under stress, if you don't, it will tend to break down. That is just the way it is.

Now in your case I would say that you should consult a physician who specializes in sports medicine and has had lots of experience. It might take awhile to track one down, and sadly his advice won't come cheap. Sports medicine is a specialty and your average doctor doesn't know a lot about it, whether they admit it or not.

thanks for posting, i was built almost like joe calzaghe. my body was fine. i might invest in a shoulder brace.. and build muscle and wear a brace for a few months.. while getting back into tip top shape from running, situps.. squats.. etc..

limited i know.. but i wanna recover..

i dislocated my shoulder once during a fight and the doc told me that if i fight one more time i'm gonna permanently damage it, and i had 8 fights since then and it felt better than it did previously, so docs aint ALWAYS right.

well dude, you didn't say how old you are, (that's a factor) but "Danny Stash" said it best...."Get a Second opinion, and see a chiropractor". I had to stop cause i got a huge gash over my right eye, last one was 4 stitches. I was 34, now 40.

Miguel Cotto also had a dislocated shoulder from a car accident...but of course, he had money to "take care of things". You said you "switch hit and left hook is less sticky and POWERFUL". If that works for you, focus your right shoulder more on 'shoulder rolls' (just a suggestion) for defense to your arsenal.

but wait till your physo therapy starts...you should know within the first 21 days...after that, the answer is clear.

Hey Dave Brown. You have me worried now man. I have the same exact problem while throwing the left hook. Like you said, the jab and everything else is fine...but it feels like my shoulder is dislocating while throwing the hook. Only difference is mine doesn't really hurt. I don't think I can give up this sport for it though. Once boxing gets in your blood, it will always be there. I guess I am going to ask my doctor.
