  • Video of me on the bag

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0MSEoKeBvc

Hey, i'm new here at boxingscene... let me explain about this video. It's basically a request for you all to point out my flaws, so that I can improve and become better. I currently weigh something around 168lbs, but hope to drop down to about 150lbs. I boxed for about 5 months, then took a big long break for my important school year (ang being honest, lost interest), but now the exams are over and i'm back in the game. Plz give me some constructive criticism.

Looks alright to me, what age are you?? You seem to maybe get a bit tired nearing the end of the video, maybe you dont but it looks like it and also you should try and punch a bit higher on the bag, your hitting about neck height!! Looks good to me otherwise!

What I would rather see is some 1 min intense intervals probably 5rnds. with a 30 sec rest time inbetween. The heavy bag is misunderstood by a lot of people it isn't going to teach you to jab, straigt right, hook or uppercut. It's best function is A giving you a good depth perception and B training your stanima. Yes you do have to work on form while hitting the bag no question, but it will suit you better to work up that endurance. with burn outs and intense sessions on the bag.
Remember it's just a bag, it just sits there. You are not learning how to box unless you ar sparring.

good advice, I'd basically say the same thing. I try to do a fair amount of 'burnouts' or 'punchouts' as a lot of people call them. Obviously, I wouldn't do that in a fight... But they're very useful for conditioning.

No it really doesn't not as much as other exersizes. Don't rely on the heavy bag to delelope power. It can be more usefull in other areas.

Hell yeah, Imagine if you could do full three min burnouts for 10 rnds what you would do in the ring with controlled agression.

Lol thanks for those comments they helped me actually lol. I was using the bag for practicing technique and practicing punches. Im training soon so i'll be doing the burnout on the bag. Use the shadow boxing for technique and throwing punches right.
