  • Addicted to Sparring

For the past 2 months ive been sparring a lot good ams, pros, allright ams and now when ever i go to the gym alls i want tro do is spar, its weird because not to long ago i would get a little nervous before i would spar. Any cure it seems to take over and alls i want to do is punch someone, This happen to anyone else or am i crazy.

I think I just need a fight. I have one comin up July 14-15 but its a month off and Im hungry.

Its not a bad feeling but its a ***** when u have no one to spar u except tice a week and it has helped my stanima a lot not being nervous, about 2 weeks ago i sparred 13 rounds straight No bull**** 13-2min rounds, I usually train w/ 3min but r coach set it to 2. Its funny cause me and my partner went hard like 6-8 rounds and r coach dint tell us to stop so after the 8th he said ok u sparred ur way no spar my way and he made us through all r shots to the chest, neck, shoulders and arms for about 5 rounds for punishment, then 50 push-ups which isnt much but after sparring that much i was drained.I think to stop being nervous get used to ur surroundiongs and spar guys who r better then u another thing that helps is seeing what u did better after eachtime u spar, what it sounds like u need is confidence.

What's not to like? Like someone said, there's no bench, no timeouts, no teammates. In the ring, it's you, and your sparring partner, and God. Totally pure.

Plus, sparring is a hell of a lot more fun than conditioning and drills. Don't get lazy. Sparring alone isn't enough.

true, too much sparring will wear you out, and will probably take away from your skills. I probably wouldn't do more than one full-on spar per week.

EDIT: Not like that's some kinda rule, obviously in a given situation I might be sparring a lot more, but normally I wouldn't go to intense more than once a week.

Ha ha, I konw the feeling I think I'm gonna be a 45-50 yr old man still drawn to the gym to spar. I went back recently after a 9 month lay off damn was I out of shape. But still managed to learn, Still worked out that agression, And walked away feeling good about it. So yeah why wouldn't you get addicted?

Ya, before a fight you'd probably spar a little more. But 3 spars/week for your entire career is physiologically not a good idea.

Haha, but what the ****, boxing isn't physiologically a good idea
