I kept freezing up, dammit. I just can't get past it; someone throws a flurry and I freeze. I've been fighting this since I started boxing over a year ago.
Positives:
1.) I was able to shake it off each time, dig deep, and resume slugging.
2.) In, IIRC, the second round, I nailed him with a straight left to the face that stunned him, and had this been an amateur bout instead of an exhibition match, I could've put him on the canvas with a combo; as it was, I stopped and asked him if he was OK even before the ref could step in (at my gym some guys call me "Gentleman Joe," BTW)
3.) I kept my foot outside his (I'm southpaw; he's orthodox) for most of the fight and whenever I saw him shift his foot outside I knew the right cross was coming and I was able to duck/block/intercept/parry it; a couple of times I hit him first with my left cross.
4.) My wife saw the whole thing and is proud as hell.
Negatives:
1.) I took another punch to the ear and it's ringing again; I may have reinjured or aggravated the perforation from a couple of weeks ago.
2.) See #1. ****ing ouch.
3.) He was nursing a rib injury and at the last moment I was told we were to throw straights only.
It was, IMO, a good fight and I will have video and stills within 24 hours. It may be in several pieces as my father-in-law was taking video with his camera.
G'nite.
