Well, inside fighting is a game of its own and I doubt can be taught over internet but to prevent opponent from slipping your jab and getting close you might just have to learn to anticipate it(time it) and move away. But dont move straight back, use angles.

Oh yeah, with inside fighting, to get more comfortable with it, you need to practice it with a partner.

Well to prevent them from slipping(since I actually do it) take a step or 2 back and when u feel as if hes going to come in on u really fast just pivot and move in another direction. Hmm and to get comfortable? seems like a mental problem u need to conquer yourself.

wow thanks both for the advice, this was the first time sparring someone much more experienced, and when i went straight back it made it easier for him so i see why stepping aside would work very well

Don't throw a lazy jab. Get your right hand ready.

Side to side movement and stay off the ropes. Inside, press the guy forwards. Push and hit in the opening. Step out and hit the opening.
