    Question about running.

When i'm running, i keep to a steady pace and run for about 20-25 minutes. I get tired and i get a good sweat on, and i'm breathing real heavy. Although i'm not entirely physically spent.

What my question is... as an amateur fighter...

would it be better to keep running to a steady pace like this or...

would it be better for me to sprint and push myself hard, really physically exerting myself for 2 minutes and giving myself a minutes rest - as i would in an amateur bout, instead of running for longer at a steady pace without rest-bite??

I'm wondering whether any of you guys do this method??

If you've got a point of view, i'd like to hear it. Thanks,

    mick.

I duno if its what your supposed to do but i like to push myself for short periods of time, sprinting up hills and then jog and then sprint. I don't know but this tires me out alot and i think makes you fitter. Im not sure though lol.

Go for a steady pace for a couple of minutes then do bursts where you sprint and then go back to a steady pace. It's up to you on how much you want to sprint or not. But that is a pretty good run.

Thanks bengi, my coach always says you should run for over 3 times as long as the fight. So i run aiming for about 15 minutes, but it usually ends up at 20-25 because i'm usually slower coming back home from where i've run out too.

          I will do some sprints.

I'm gonna start running every day, as of tomorrow before work. I'm also gonna put 100 press ups and 100 sit ups too.

I listen to my music when I run(I imagine most of you do too). So what I do is run at a steady pace for almost an entire song(no matter the length of the song). When there is 10 seconds left in the song, I sprint. When the song is over, I walk for a minute.

I'm not in the best shape, which is why I walk for a minute instead of just slowing to a steady jog. I'm also trying to lose weight, so I would rather run like this for 25-30 minutes than at a faster pace for 15 minutes.

This is only when I run at home though. When I go to the gym, I run for 15-20 minutes at an even pace, with a flight of steps every minute or two.

Sounds like a good method David.
