    Leaving your head loose?

I know most people stiffen their neck when they know they are going to get hit with a good shot (they tense up), but I've seen boxers take really good shots that just leave their head all loose. Like Librado Andrade vs. Kessler, or Lennox in the Tua fight.
I was wondering if it helps absorb the blow or something, I want to try it but then I don't cause it could lead to neck injury if they punch you hard enough.

I've heard from a paramedic before that the reason drunk drivers live most of the time and the people they crash into die most of the time is because since the person is drunk, their body is all loose they don't tense up which causes their body to help absorb the impact. And since the people they crash into aren't drunk their body tenses up which causes the crash most of the time to be fatal...

Yea I get it totally.. I've heard the exact same thing.. and thats what this lady in a wheel chair said saved her from dieing in a car crash.

Well i dunno man.. I see what that guy did with kessler.. I thought he just had a good chin.

I dont know about all that loose neck stuff... I've never heard of a boxer doing that.

Best to just try and get out the way of the punch as much as possible.

Bad idea. There is a deference between preventing injury to your body by being relaxed, and preventing injury to your brian by being relaxed.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that you want to leave it a little loose, it should make the contact less powerful, but not by much.

But if you go of off common sense, leaving your neck/head loose, that's very dangerous. But then again I could be wrong.

If you leave your head loose and absorb a shot you can get badly injured, but if your head and neck is loose and you roll with the punch it will take the power off the punch its just a matter of rolling with your shotz, do practice drills with ur partner... if no partner practice w a freind who has control

I think a lot of Philipinos use this technique.

I kind of worded that wrong what im trying to say i know is right so let me refrase that. what u do is keep your neck tense but relaxed so you dont feel like your workin out your neck mucels and to roll I was trying to refer as being loose at the waist and shoulders adn if u take a shot go with it but make sure your neck doesnt feel like your flexing it, stay relaxed and yuoll notice the shot u expxted to hurt wasnt all that bad.
