In todays boxing world their are a variety of different defensive styles that boxers utilize. Theres the classic up and down, the quick countering philly shell, and the cross. I dont have the best trainer in the world i really get what i pay 4....but i really want to learn the shoulder roll technique that the Mayweathers utilize. Anyone know any trainers that are skilled with this tehnique or the philly shell? I think i got the basics but i wouldnt trust it in the ring

its hell of alot better than the guard up defense lol.. cuz they can still rock u like that.. if some of those punches get thru the gloves or around
where-as in the shell, u barely get touched (not in the face atleast, ur arms but thats about it)

I believe that I got the speed to use it. But my trainer knows squat about it hes pretty old school. Ive been looking 4 a new trainer for the longest but I just want to try the philly shell out and see if it fits my fighting style. I am a pretty fast outside fighter that tends to leave my hands down a bit. I feel that the classic up and down style slows me down when the fighting gets inside and close. I look at Mayweathers film all the time and just c how he masters the shoulder roll.Last edited by King James III; 05-23-2007, 08:30 PM.

I was tryin it alittle in sparrin, when I just cover up they pummel my gloves and it still feels like gettin hit in the head, I blocked a couple rollin my shoulder and I can take those all day long and it wont hurt my head cause it doesnt come near it.

volume puncher, like to get inside and unload big shots. I have pretty good power but my biggest problem is that when i get someone with a good shot i stop jabbing n start throwing big shots from the outside and then it turns into a brawl

I've got a powerful shovelhook with either hand and I'm exceptionally strong, so I like to get in and throw heavy, bull him around, tie him up, piss him off, and basically make him tired and mad. My style is kinda similar to the guy that DA1CATAS tuned up in the sparring vids he just posted, but I'm eighty pounds lighter and much faster.
I also have a pretty quick jab and I come from a sabre fencing background so my feints are excellent.
