  • I dont know what to do...

My gym is having amateur boxing on June 2nd and I REALLY wanna get on it. Ive been tryin to figure out what I need like as far as a medical checkup or whatvever and then today I was in a car accident and prescribed pain killers and muscle relaxers for some shoulder pain. If I take them wont they show up in my system in my drug test? and the doc was sayin to take it easy a few days but the amateur show is weeks away and I really need to pick it up as far as training. I am really torn right now.

if i'm not mistaken, nearly all of the regular pain killer medications i know of will leave the body in a matter of a few days - no longer. you probably have vicodin, heh? look up the time it takes for it to leave your system - there are sites out there that have pretty reliable info. i had to look something like this up for a friend. you might also want a detox drink as a back up, but i wouldn't worry.

depending on your trauma, you will probably need a few days atleast to recover. two of my friends were in car accidents in the last 6 months in case you are wondering why i am responding.

you will probably feel a bit more pain the next day after the accident.

well, atleast you are not seriously injured i take it. and you have pain meds. sit back for a couple of days and assess yourself then.

but I just found out about the tournament a few days ago and picked it up a little but was plannin on exploding the next week and a half and I cant do that taking mucsle relaxers and then killing my muscles running and sparring. Plus they gave me lortabs which are a narcotic, that cant be good to take before an amateur fight.

a lot of people overexaggerate the affects of pain killers. if you are not used to them, though, you likely will have some trouble.

anyways, i suppose all you can do i assess your condition by the day. if your lucky, you may get better sooner rather than later.

looks like you may have to skip the tourny if your pain persist for more than a day or two.

i can sympathize - i had to back out of a tourny a month ago because of injury.

take it easy man. there will be other times. don't rush anything unless you want to have the injury longer than you would have otherwise.

I dont want to take the medication for a few days and then be fine and fight fail the drug test. I either have to not take the drugs and fight or take them and risk not being able to fight. If it ends up going to court IM sure te judge isnt going to listen to "warrior spirit and a love for boxing" **** when I complained about a shoulder injury and then entered an amateur boxing match two weeks later. Plus my car is all ****ed up and I need to put it in the shop, unless I get a rental car I cant go to the gym and no gym = no fight. ****
