just breathe nice and deep and don't worry about coordinating inhalation and exhalation with phases of the push up. if you do you could mildly hyperventilate or hypoventilate.
now, if you do push ups very slowly, than it is different. exhale as you push up.
ok so i breath when i go down and i exhale when i get up right?
yes. but that is only if you are doing them fairly slowly. you should never force yourself to breath faster or slower. a trained person can control thier breathing so that it is not forced.
you should really just perform push ups in a rapid pace and not worry about breathing. that way you will not run into trouble.
you're quite a young person, right? how old? it may help give us here @ BS a proper perspective.
btw, breathing in the way you are thinking of should be performed just like you are bench pressing. except here you are lowering while breathing in and rising while breathing out.
alright thanks. you have a long ways to go. good luck in your training and enjoy your time here on boxingscene. just remember, no amount of online studying can replace a good coach or teacher.
everything you hear should be taken with a grain of salt - an old saying. it means that you should have a good healthy sense of skepticism. learn to trust yourself. that usually takes a while. don't rush it. or anything for that matter.
know who you are getting advice or tips from. you can find a short bio of my training experience simply by searching through my posts.
