  • Smokers?

My gym is having another card on June 2nd, Im not sure if it is actual amateur boxing or if its a smoker. Im pretty sure it would be a smoker. What weight does a smoker hold, does it count on your amateur record? I want to get on this one to get my amateur career started but if its just some unnofficial meaningless fight card just to make the gym money (tickets are $10 dollars) then why do it. I guess it wouldnt hurt to get the experience but I dont want people to come and tell them "oh this doesnt count" plus I havent gotten to 200 pounds yet so Ill still have the deck stacked against me.

EDIT: Nevermind its legit, see the link I posted further down.

to be honest, I dont know anything about amateur boxing. I love boxing but never really cared about the amateurs, from what I understand a smoker is like an unofficial amateur match. Something like a gym vs gym thing or something.

I've had smokers.. NOPE they don't go on your record. BUT THEY WILL HAVE LOTS OF PEOPLE THERE.

Other boxers watching other boxers. Trainers seeing whats around for their fighters to fight. seeing who's improved and just putting on a show to showcase your gym.

Give some of the new guys experience before a real fight and also.. last but not least. For the person who's throwing it to make money.

But if it goes to the scorecards sometimes the judges are real F'd up... I've seen crazy decisions in smokers. Its almost like the florida athletic commision runs all the smaokers in the world lol.

great idea to get ready for 'true' amateur bouts (I'm 99% sure these do not go on record).

              Good luck squabbs

At least here in Canada to register to be an amateur I had to go to the doctor and get her to sign a few forms and do a check up. Then you have to send the forms in to whatever the local commision is. Here I sent it into BCAB. There are also other forms that your trainer has to fill out and stuff. Just trying to be helpful, best of luck.
