  • help with my workout

I box Mon-Wed-Fri and on days I don't box I usually do my roadwork. I now have a heavybag and a uppercut bag and a skipping rope at home. What would a session look like with this equipment?

    I was thinking

    20 minutes skipping
    4 rounds shadowbox
    10 rounds heavybag
    6 rounds uppercut bag
    Pushups and Situps

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts

    Thanks

Depends how long you have to work out for! Let me know and i will offer up some advice for you! But remember it will vary from trainer to trainer and fighter to fighter, we all have different ways of doing it! Variety is the ****e of life!

Are you saying that you train three times a week at a gym then on your days off you do road work?

If that's true I would say that's more than enough, obviously if you have a fight coming up then you will up the intensity but over training is worse than not training because it causes injury.

By all means use your bags for developing your skills and timing, warm up first by skipping but don't look to do huge workouts if you are already working hard in the week.

Remember rest is an important aspect of training, also over training especially on the heavy bag can lead to future problems with your hands!

3 days a week sounds enough to me, you dont want to overtrain

I won't overtrain. Most boxers train 6 days per week. My gym is only open 3 days per week though.

No, most boxers train in bursts. If you train too hard consistently you will run out of gas, become disillusioned with training and possibly injure yourself.

A steady training regime will keep you fit, sharp and motivated, prior to a fight you will need to up it slightly but be careful!

Surely your trainer must tell you this, BTW this is not BS I have been training boxers for over 10 years.
