Why is it that I can hit a 100 pound bag, as hard as I can for as long as I want...with nothing but unwrapped hands in bag gloves and I don't get any wrist or hand pain? I see guys wrapping up like casts only to put on 16oz bag gloves....wtf? I normally train with 16oz bag gloves just for weight, but I can go all night long with just a pair of speed bag mittens and I can throw my punches at full speed/full impact without really having any pain. Just gotta keep them wrists locked. Im NOT trying to brag...just that sometimes it worries me seeing all these guys wrapping up and stuff, am I doing something wrong? It's not like I punch like a ***** either LOL

Perhaps they are preventing the chance of a hand or wrist injury? Or maybe preventing aggrivating a past injury?? I know i've been threw periods of training where i've built up so much damage to my fists that i couldn't hold a pen. etc.
Sometimes i put two sets of wraps on myself, especially if i'm feeling discomfort. I also used to have these kind of karate glove things, which were basically a padded glove, which i'd wear on top of my wraps and inside my glove! - i must be one of those guys you think is weird wrapping my hands like a mummies. haha.
I dunno, its up to you. But I always think the most popular injury amongst boxers is smashed up hands. If you break a fist, it could easily end any hopes of competitive boxing.
You can't be doing anything wrong if your hands aren't hurting i guess, maybe your just lucky.

Yea its like saying why should I wear a seatbelt I drive 150mph on the free way and dont wreck. Well what if you do wreck? You will regret not having a seatbelt on.
For left hooks without wraps always hurts my wrists.

if you can do that you must not have any power. I do it sometimes but it hurts cause I thorw so hard. I bruise my knuckles woth wraps and 14 oz gloves, but sometimes I hit the bags barefisted.

I don't know, I mean I can say what I want and you'll just have to take my word on it but I am punching hard. Im put all my power and weight behind my punches when going at the heavy bag. Sounds/feels hard to me anyway. I haven't trained in a formal setting in a few years but i've been training with the heavy for like 3+ years now. I can go barefisted too, just my knuckles get pretty cut up. No real pain as in bruising or wrist problems though. Only when I get REALLY tired out, my wrists get a little weak and I could see where wrapping the wrists would help.
Possibly the bag im using is softer than most? Its a 100 pound everlast, sand filled bottom and cloth filled top. Gives a lot when you hit the middle/top of the bag. The lower parts (which I don't hit being groin level) is hard as a mother. Im sure i'd need wrap and gloves to hit that.
The bag I used prior to this was an 80 pound cloth filled bag made by TKO.
None of my bags were pure sand filled, I guess that makes a huge difference. I would deff wrap my hands and use good gloves with a full sand filled bag.
