This is the second time in a month or so I hyperextended my right elbow. First time my trainer was not ready for my right hand on thenpad and second time i was distracted on heavy bag and threw a blow and the bag was out of reach. I know i know pay attention. Short of that is their any other way to rehab it besides ice and anti immflamatories? I have no problem working through the pain as long as I know i am not making it worse or causing problems down the road. Does anyone know the short and long term effects of not resting it. It got better last time just alot slower than resting it would. I dont want to mess up my elbow in order to not miss a week of training or so? Any thoughts PLEASE before I screw myself up!

I had some problems with overextended elbows and shoulders when i started. i used some icy-hot bengay type stuff that helped some and tried to take it a little easy for the first day after each time they got bad from a workout. After that it still hurt some but i just went through it and eventually i stopped having the problem. Your experience could be different, but i think its just a combination of control/ not throwing wild punches, and muscle conditioning. When you're sparring or fighting you'll be missing shots so you don't want to practice punching in ways that will injure you if you don't connect. shadowboxing would probably be especially helpful for this.

thats basically my experience killjoy. I guess i will just continue as is and try to be a little more wary of my form in the heavy bag. I have not used icyhot type stuff yet but will give it a try. Thanks for the help.
