what i heard about swiming is abit not for someone who is trying to lose weight

Swimming is usually done in a pool (it can also be done in a lake or ocean as well). Lessons are always available at most swimming pools if you don't know how to swim. Swimming is also a great total body workout that is completely non-impact. It is perfect for very overweight people, injured people and paraplegic people. Swimming can be done as long-duration, low-intensity exercise or as high-intensity, short-duration exercise. It is also a very useful skill to have.
Here is a list of basic equipment that you will need for swimming...

A good pair of goggles is a must. They will allow you to train longer without burning your eyes out from chlorine or salt.
For extra resistance, try wearing a shirt when you swim. When you swim without the shirt, you will feel like greased lightning.
One of the great things about swimming is that it can be done arms-only if you have a leg injury and want to maintain your cardiovascular fitness.
But, swimming does have a few disadvantages, though. First, it is not particularly convenient if you don't own a pool or live near water. It's not like walking where you can walk out of your house and just do it. For maximum effectiveness you have to know how to swim, which can take a long time to learn properly. It is also a non-weight bearing activity and will not contribute to bone density, as other weight-bearing exercises such as running will.

Also, swimmers tend to carry more of their bodyfat subcutaneously (under the skin). This is the body's reaction to training in water. Because you are constantly losing heat to the water, the body will try to protect against this by increasing the insulation near the skin (fat). If you are trying to get very lean, regular swimming is not the way to go, though it is okay for occasional use.

Rocky goes swimming on Apollo Creeds advice... but Rocky didn't have the eye of the tiger at that point.

I'd say go for it, but make sure that the tiger of your eye is at a premium rate. Otherwise you'll get ****ed up. Plus... pull your brother-in law Pauly into the pool for comedic effect if you get the chance.

In my own personal experience, swimming got me far more cut than just running. Of course I never substituted swimming FOR running, I simply added it to my workout during the summer.

I noticed I was far more lean and cut up all over and in my chest especially. I wonder if the fact that the water in my pool was normally at around 80 degrees when I was swimming (not exactly cold)? Or if it was just that I was adding one cardio workout onto another. Right now, I run and run and run till I flat out can't run anymore, then I get home and sit on the couch to cool down. When my pools open, I run and run and run till I cant run anymore, and then I jump in the pool. Within a few seconds of floating around, im 100% again and I swim a few laps while im in there and do some arm only then leg only swimming. It's great because after a few hours on your feet hitting the heavy bag and then running, you normally just cant do anymore on the ground...but being in the pool to me feels like im using a different body and I have my energy back.

Pssst you this is suppose to be a secret.

But something you touched up on in this post you made is very valuable.
It proves that being tired is just a mental block... Quiet .. don't tell people that stuff. Its my weapon.

I deff agree with that. I mean sometimes running or boxing you get to that point where your sweating like crazy and feel like your going to get heat stroke. Most guys quit for the day. I get to that point mentally where I can go all day long if I wanted to/had the time, just need small breaks to cool off every once in a while and im back at it. Thats where the pool is good. Sorry for letting the secret out lol

its been proven a long time ago that swimming works a different layers of muscles that boxing or even freeweights for that matter. and for overall fitness, you need to do swimming as well.
As for tiredeness, it is also a known fact that tiredness is just a mental signal that your body needs to be rejuvinated with different supplements(water, vitamins, blah, blah, blah) but you can obviously train your mind to go much further, I thought that this was one of the first things that you learned in any sport. That if you want to, your mind will go much further that your body.
IF this used inappropriately, you will pay dearly though.
