White collar boxing?

I live in Houston and I've been training and sparring for a little over 13 months...
Anyway, I'm a too old for amatures(32), but I saw something about "white collar bouts" out east. Are there any of those in Texas?
If not, are there other informal venues where novice fighter can get a bout? examples: smokers, tough-man...ect.?

this thread reminded me of some older school fighters.

you know back in the day youd have guys named Professor Donovan and ****. actual professors in colleges that were prize fighters. there were plenty of em too. crazy ****

I dunno about Texas. I'm in Seattle, and I'm a white-collar boxer by any definition of the word. I started a year ago at age 35, I'm white, I work a day job, & I box solely for the spirit and the sport of it with no -- repeat NO -- intention of ever going pro, owning the world, going to the Olympics, etc.

I do, however, intend on competing in the USA Boxing Master Division later this year or perhaps next; moreso now that USA Boxing is starting to let Master Division fighters (35+) compete in Golden Gloves. I want to compete in Golden Gloves. Seriously; it has become a life goal.

Right now I train for, and fight in, inter-gym bouts and all-city exhibition matches. These are unscored, full-speed, Olympic-rules fights, essentially a night of 3-round sparring sessions open to the public.

Versatile2K7 is in Texas. He should have the 411, in the parlance of today's youth.
