What muscles are worked hitting the heavy?

I know back muscles are worked, cause I can feel my back getting a lot stronger. I just don't know which ones.

My abs get a workout too, because I'm always nonstop bobbing and weaving moving around so I don't turn into one of those stand still fighters. I'm also guessing forearms are worked too?

I would imagine all your muscles would get a workout.
Hitting the heavy bag is almost like boxing.
And when you box or Spar every muscle from the feet up to the neck get a good workout.

i have a different perspective on the muscles at work during a heavy bag session. i try not to 'work' the muscles. getting too involved with the muscles in that way only slows me down from what i'm trying to do. i have specific reasons and training i use a heavy bag for. it's different than the way most people train punches on a bag.

just thought it would be fun to throw out a different perspective than the norm.

Another question. Is it bad going 30+ minutes nonstop on a heavybag? (I know most of you can do it so I'm not trying to brag or anything)

I do it all the time, I take probably a 1 minute rest. I jab, throw crosses, bob and weave, throw hooks, throw combos, and all that other good stuff.

I always see people taking rests after 3 mins of the heavybag, but I figured since I don't get tired why should I stop? The only time I stop is to drink some gatorade (just a few sips) and that is it. I've been doing this everyday for the past month and I can definately feel my back getting stronger, plus after that I can run as much as I want cause my legs aren't tired for some reason.

These muscles, I can flex them, or something close to them in my back:

I beleive I got them from hitting the bag:

My shoulders always get a good work out. The heavy bag is the best ****. My favorite part of the gym. Im always there. The first time I went I got sore cause i OD'ed on the bag. I haven't gotten sore ever since and I be busting my ass off. My right hooks are ridiculous.

It also depends how u hit the bag,for what muscles u feel.Like I use alot of my muscles to much, cause i but my body into it.

if you put your body momentum into the punches, why would you need a lot of muscle tensing. it doesn't make sense.

                    perhaps i misunderstand your post.
