    Elbow pain

Even after heeding all of the advice you guys gave me in a hyperextension topic I posted a while back, my elbow is still sore--especially when I have it almost fully extended and try to bear weight on it.

Any suggestions on how to treat this irritating problem??

Yeah, It's definitely from boxing training--you know the usual stuff: Stretching, jumping rope, calisthenics, shadowboxing, and all manner of bags and hand pads. It normally doesn't bother me unless I'm lifting something, then it hurts. It doesn't hurt tremendously bad, just enough to make me wish it weren't so.

Ill bet that when you are shadow boxing that you are fully extending your arm and snapping your elbow.

Turn the fists over but stop the blow just before your arm is fully extended and the pain will go away abit.

However, dealing with the "discomfort" of the elbows is just part of the game. Youll over extend sparring when you miss a blow and irritate it abit but just quit throwing full bore while fully extending and snapping your arm/elbow while shadow boxing and it will clear up abit for you..............Rockin'

I had the same problem and it started with a hyperextension, after I took some time off the pain went away BUT as soon as i started training again it came back so I bought an ice pack and a couple of ace bandages and wrapped the ice pack around my elbow after every workout it looked funny walking around with this on my elbow but man it helped try that why don't you

Hmm, well this is a strange idea, and no serious boxer would like it:

But basically, cut one aspect of your training out each week. Like don't shadowbox next week for example. Maybe the pain will stop, then you'll know it's the shadowboxing. If it keeps up, maybe stop working the heavy bag...

              and so on.

At least then you'll find out the problem, but these things are very hard to see from so far away (internet), so I'd recommend getting into a physiotherapist or some such.

Ouch! Sounds like the cure is worse than the disease.
Great advice as always, Trick. Good K, comin' your way.

                  np man,

This just sounds like somethin' that you'd need a physio to look at, in Canada, that would be free, but I guess if it's not for you, that puts you in a bit of a bind.

Yeah, I'm a poor-ass college student, but I think visits to the campus doctor are free.
