i guess the thread is useless because i didn't realize how much i did NOT value you guys opinions. oh well, you live and you learn. i'm not asking for anymore advice in this forum. as a matter of fact, that wasn't the idea of this thread to begin with...this was a test of sorts.

yeah, that's right...i didn't get any sparring in at my gym yet, and i thought it would be a good idea to spar with my little brother for now until i actually get some sparring. whenever i go to my gym, it is rare, if ever someone spars, and it's usually little kids who spar whenever it happens. so, **** it, i asked my brother if he wanted to spar, to my surprise, he agree'd immediately. so i showed him some basic punches, and the next day i bought myself and him some mouth pieces, and first i went defensive and just let him punch me, then he went defensive for a couple of rounds. then we just went at it for a couple. oddly enough, i learned something from this little sparring session. it's harder to hit people then i thought(although i was a bit apprehensive) i learned a lot actually. and he's maybe an inch taller than me, so it's cool, i can learn how to fight short here and now. so even if my trainer doesn't let me spar for ever, i still get experience. when he finally does decide to let me spar, i'm gonna rip **** up.

basically, can you learn a lot from just sparring your brother, who doesn't know much about boxing(i don't either)?

whether you guys tell me i can learn alot or not doesn't concern me though, because i already know i learned a **** load from that sparring session and want to push to do this almost everyday.
it isnt nearly as effective as sparring against someone who knows what their doing, but you have to start somewhere I guess.

yeah, but how many people actually know what they are doing? my brother is damn green, but he isn't that much worse than people i've seen in the gym.

anyway, i've learned more than i could have hoped for in that sparring session.

ill put it to you like this, Ive been street fighting my whole life, Ive been fightin some bad dudes in all out brawls, Ive been slap boxin all my life, I used to spar my brother and boxed a few freinds. Ive always been dominate, IM known and got like a reputation like "Man, that dude would whoop you so outta line". I only lost one "fight" and that was when I got rushed when I wasnt lookin. Ive done security and loss provention and fought with gang members, crack heads etc etc. Im always winning and just people cant **** with me.

Ive sparred 4 different people in the gym just recently who have ALOT more boxing experience than me and Ive barley broken even, and really been gettin beat on. Ive been hit harder by these 4 guys than Ive ever been hit in my life. Ive never been hit cleanly by someone as many times as Ive been hit by these guys.So yeah, sparring against a younger guy that doesnt have a clue what hes doin isnt going to prepare you to spar with some one equal size and stuff with you that actually knows how to box and ounch with power and slip punches and move around the ring.

actually, my brother was slipping punches and keeping his hands up pretty good. i'm no expert, but what i was really working on was avoiding punches and figuring out my style. guess what? i found it. in such a little time too. i always knew i would be an infighter, but this practice against my brother in my opinion is invaluable right now. i will continue to spar because, hell, it's going to make me a little better than before.

are you suggesting this is a waste of time? either way, i'm going to continue to do it because it's "fun." i guess it doesn't matter much because either way i'm going to spar with "pros" and people who know what they are doing eventually.

does anyone else have an opinion on this?

then what the **** you make the thread for askin if its a good start, when you seem hell bent that this is great for you and youre doin it regardless. Maybe they should have sent your little brother out to spar Oscar in Puerto Rico instead of Sugar Shane.

wait a second, did i miss something? what the **** are you tripping for? did i make you mad? i don't know what your deal is, but if you got mad because i asked for different opinions, you need help kid. i made the thread to get opinions by the way, i got yours, and took it with a grain of salt, just like i'll take anyone elses. you shouldn't get mad because i already knew i was going to continue sparring before i made the thread for opinions. did you really think anyone on here had that much power over my decisions?

anyway, you are finished in my book, don't talk to me anymore.

ahaha, I hurt the "juggernaut"s feelings.

I was tryin to explain to you that the people youll spar will be on a whole nother level and that sparrin with him wont really prepare you. But it would be an alright place to start I guess to start throwin punches at people. You just keep tryin to explain why he is actually good and slippin punches and that this is great sparring and regardless of what are opinions, eventhough you made a thread askin for them, you are gpoing to do them anyway.

it helps to eliminate the initial fear/apprehension of physical contact that most people have
                  but like he said
doin it against someone who u just said u had to teach some basic punches
and then the next day "sparred" with him
isnt the same as gettin into an actual ring with someone who knows
or like you has had more then one quick lesson
but its always fun to play boxer with friends and family

your message got convoluted when you started saying my brother should have sparred de la hoya. that's just being an *******. and you didn't hurt my feelings, i just generally prefer not to deal with *******s perhaps. anyway, you are right, this thread is next to useless because no matter what anyone says, coem tomorrow, i'm sparring him again. good day.
