  • Sparred Again Today

    Well today at the gym I got to spar again. My second time. I was not expecting to spar but its alright.

    The first guy I went against is about 10lbs heavier, and much stronger. I had the height, reach, and speed advantage over him though. For the first two rounds I worked him with jabs, right hands, and a few hooks. I was doing pretty well.

    After that I sparred a younger and much lighter guy. I just moved around with him, and helped him out. I went two rounds with him. This was all in a row too.

    After that I went in with the first guy again. This time he came out strong, I was not expecting it. I kept working him though, but when he got close he would work the inside, and this guy could hit. Went with him two rounds again.

    After that I ran two miles, and practice was over.

    I felt pretty smooth and good today, I need to work a bit on my footwork, and how to escape the ropes.

    Can anyone give some advice?

    sounds like u had a good day of training man.

    i dont really got much advice to say, except thats nice of u to help out the younger kids in sparring, some guys wanna get the feel for it before getting the feel of punches too haha. but thats always nice to see man...

    and maybe work with the same guys u sparred with already and just pick soem rounds to intensify. or just have a 3 round war with one of them..

    cuz some guys will come on really strong , some just dont hold back.


    do u hit the gym often ??

      I hit the boxing gym every Tuesday and Thursday. I wish I could do more, but my coach has a tight schedule

      Other than that, I workout on my own, and hit weight at the gym, about 2-3 times a week. I used to workout like everyday, but now I cant get to the gym anymore.

      But yea definetly, i like helping out the younger and newer guys, but im not that old myself.i just started in January, but I feel I have progressed very well.

        i would tell you my way to get out of the Corner, but its hard to put into words.


        just wait for the right moment, bob and weave close to your opponent while releasing a nice hook to the body, then ....man, i would have to show you. its weird. i can hardly do it. if i get cornered im screwed. hard to pull of when Actually sparring. im still New to boxing, but ive been excercising and doing some boxing stuff with my bro. everynow and then he shows me stuff.

          Yea after awhile i got out of it, like the last few ones, I would just weave and confuse him, and just move out the way real quickly, and throw in a few jabs to back him up.
