  • First time at the gym...

Well, in about an hour I'm going off to the gym for the first time. I'm kind of nervous, even though I probably won't be doing much today besides watching and just checking the place out. I'm excited to finally start boxing(I've been wanting to box for several months now).

I'll post up a trip report when I get back.

Wow....I'm in love. I didn't do anything today but watch, but I love it there. On my way home, I stopped at another gym that just felt empty and sad.

The first gym I went to though was awesome. It was in a community center, it was definitely ******, but you can tell the coaches really love it and are into what they do. It's only $5/year(well the coach said I just need a membership, which is $5...he said that's all I need "for now", I don't really know what that means)

Anyways, he said for the first week or 2 it would be all conditioning, which is good because I'm definitely a little out of shape since the end of wrestling season.

I'm going back tomorrow to start my training. I'll probably try to get an idea of what he wants me to do, conditioning-wise, and work on that mostly by myself, going to the gym when my work schedule allows it.

I'm really really pumped though, despite the fact that I won't be doing much for the first 2 weeks...

Great to see someone doing the sensible thing. Actually going to a gym to learn to box, instead of expecting to learn by asking here and training in the bedroom.

haha Ive noticed that, everybody here tries to put videos up but for some reason they are all at home. Me, Versatile, and McCallister are the only ones that actually post videos of ourselves workin in a gym. Lots of others show videos of them in their bedroom hittin a heavybag which makes me beleive they dont really train at a gym.

Plus their videos are also like a minute long. Mine were full rounds, Vers, and McCallister were full rounds, Chi town amateur full rounds. Most the other post a thirty second video of them shadowboxing in the bathroom and I think its a joke.

Thanks...I love it there. I went back yesterday. The trainer gave me a lot of attention. Everyone else knew what they were doing for the most part, so he helped me, even though I was just running and doing a few exercises(push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks....sit-ups killed me, I usually do crunches)

I can't wait to go back on tuesday...I'm kind of sore from yesterday though, I was running slightly uphill for the majority of my run.

I'm really excited to start learning actual boxing, not just getting in better shape. The trainer said I'll probably start on that sometime next week or the week after.
