i had my first amateur bout on the 5th and lost a majority decision. i watched it on dvd and think if i had kept my chin down then i would of won easily. any advice or tips i could do in training to get out of this bad habbit would much appreciated. cheers.

Not to be mean... But first of all.. You weren't knocked out....And keeping your chin tucked doesn't stop your head from being snapped back...SO HOW DO YOU FIGURE CHANGING THAT ONE THING WOULD HAVE CHANGED THE TOTAL OUTCOME?

I could see if you said you were getting hit with massive uppercuts and got knocked out.... Or you kept gettin 8 counts from right hands landing on ya chin...

But you said just keeping you head down... Watch the video again.. Tell me what punches he landed?.... how many?..Hows your footwork? Did you slow down/get tired? what punches were easy for you to land?

If you tell me some things like that.. or even post the vid i will be able to help you a lil more... ok.. hopefully you'll respond ... peace

Answer to your chin staying tucked... **when you shadow box keep---- some tape--- once pound pellet--- spped bag glove----or large pencil shaped object--- under your neck... and don't ouch it with your hands...keep your eyes up... that will help in getting use to it... worked for me.

i was tired in the 3rd rnd i think thats where he won it. the reason i say i think i would of won is because the only real shots that he caught me with was when my chin wasnt tucked. i was quite nervous aswell but i think most ppl r in that situation and it was like most the things i learned in the gym and that worked in sparring went out the window. it was my 1st bout and his 5th aswell so i think that didnt help the nerves but i think il be more cinfident next time out because it was a close fight. cheers for ur advice. appreciate it.

When sparring, shadowboxing, hitting the bag or whatever put something under your chin like a mouth gaurd and try hold it there the whole time.

yea when you get in the ring infront of people everyone gets anxious and forgets some things... until you get use to the crowd.. or either have a concrete ...or steal concentration.

So he must have been a head hunter seeing as he would only catch you when yur chin wasn't tucked... probaly head hunted because he had 4 more fights than you.

You'll do alot better next time... You always train harder after your first fight... atleast thats what I've seen and done myself...Anyway no problem i'll answer anything ya put up.. you can go comment on my shadowboxin and tell me if ya see anything not so good. thanx peace
