  • need help starting off/losing weight

i just got a bag.a stand bag which is lined with foam? and hollow inside and the bottom is filled with water but it still moves when i hit it.i use a mma open fingers glove, not sure if its recommended but i like those the best. also when i box, i step my left leg forawrd because im right handed, is my left leg suppose to be on its toes or its heel? i hit the bag about 45-60 minutes about 5 times a week. 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after of jumping rope.i havent started running yet because i hate running. i eat breakfast and dinner and just a snack in the afternoon, no lunch. right now im 5'7 and 180. i used to starve myself till i was about 150 and wouldnt go down anymore, then when i start eating(not even alot) i gain back like mad. so now i want to do it safely and through boxing as well because i love it. i dont care about packing any muscle right now im just trying to drop my weight first and worry about that later. any recommendation guys?

do all aerobic excersises: skip rope, run(yeah you gatta do it), anything to make your heart race. if you want to you can hit the bag but make sure you have proper equpiment and knowlege on how to hit the bag. NEVER starve yourself for weight loss, you will just gain it all back just as fast as you lost it. Also eat well, it is hard to do but if you are focused it will happen.

im 180 and i would like to be 150. honestly, i eat everything, for breakfast now i just grab a quick sandwich and dinner is usually some type of soup with a bit of lean meat and veggies, then one serving of fruit a little after dinner. many people have been telling me to eat 5 small meals but i dont think i have time for that... i just wanna eat in the morning, night, and snack in the afternoon. any suggestions? also, im still in highschool and getting ready for college and all that crap so i dont have that much time, was just thinking of waking up an hour early every morning to go for a run? would exercising in the morning be beneficial? (along with boxing and jumping rope at night)

Loosing weight is a very simple formula, it just takes dedication and determination..

            1) Diet
            2) Cardio

thats all there is too it.. running, jogging, swimming, jump rope, sparring.. ect

wow, you're gunna have to budge a lil at least
2 meals and and one snack won't speed up your metabolism very much
you're gunna have to find time for more snacks and meals

i try to eat 5-7 meals a day and most of them are quick:
              protein bars
              protein shakes
              pre-made sandwiches
              free food at work
              quick microwave or toaster meals

just try to get a meal in every 2 hours, b/c your metabolism starts over every two hours, and the more you keep it runnin but with a limited portion of food, the faster and more efficient it will be in general

and as for runnin, i don't think you need to wake up an hour earlier
you need to set off 15 minutes, then build up to 30 minutes for joggin and a few extra minutes for a quick shower
or you could jump rope instead of jog sometimes

boxin and/or liftin weights would be ideal at night, that's usually when i get mine out of the way on weekdays, and then i chug a protein shake right afterwards as my last meal of the day

good luck on your goal, and don't try to lose it all at once and don't starve yourself.. the best gains (or loses) will come through patience

Figure out how many calories you spend per day. There are various online calculators, use one to approximate. Let's say it estimates you to be spending 2500 calories a day. Eat 2000 calories a day for a week. If it's accurate, you'll lose 1 lb in that week. If you lose more, your calorie budget is higher, if less it's lower.

This may seem a hassle, but it's the ONLY way you can KNOW what you're doing, anything else is just a guessing game.

Count calories, eat balanced and healthy, and train your ass off.

Here's a little article that clears up some of the jogging/fat burning zone nonsense. Intense exercise is much better for fat loss! Don't believe me? Read the article:
