  • Plz Help for smaller fighter

I'm 5'10 171lbs goin into the 160 or 155 amateur weights for now. The only genetically good things I have for boxing is a strong square chin and heavy bones, n alot of punching power, but the thing is I don't like being a puncher, I prefer to box. In that weight most people will be taller than me and have longer reach, I was just hoping nebody would have some technique tips for fighting against a tall guy with longer reach. I know about fighting inside but I would liketo know about nething else, I train myself so I don't really have a coach. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. For taller guys with longer reach, fight on the inside. Get "in" with the jab and just hook and uppercut to the stomach and chest. Guys at your weight who are punchers, use your movement (run sprints to get your legs "springy or jumpy"), keep them off with the jab and every now and then throw a good combo to keep them off you and to confuse them. DO NOT LET A PUNCHER ON THE INSIDE. Run all night if you have to. **** to the body and throw combos on the inside. And the most important thing to do against a puncher, slipping and moving to make them miss. Dodge their punches.

    2. Against another boxer, use ALOT of movement, head movement, foot movement, moving side to side. Work off the jab, and beat him to it. You gotta be first to throw. Jab to the body alot and throw combos starting at the body and ending at the top or vice versa. Another boxer will be confused if you jab and throw combos. Make sure to hop around the ring like a damn kangaroo and keep sticking and moving.

    3. Against a balanced fighter you basically have to mix in the strategies above. Use head and foot movement, jab alot and throw combos off the jab, stay off the ropes, and **** the body to slow them and throw 2 and 3 punch combos up top.

Well those are some of the basic strategies I use. But to tell you the truth, it really depends on what you want to do. You just gotta be smart. I usually spend about thirty seconds to see what my opponent throws, how, and what his strategy is (to box or to punch), then I apply a strategy that I hope will beat them and apply it all night.

The best strategy is to just have heart and not give up. Heart is your most powerful weapon.
