ya know, getting punched in the head really doesnt hurt for me with all those gloves on, which is why I let myself get hit way to often.

But cant you just time it so you can hit them say if theyre bobbing left to right, then just time for when theyre in the middle

Matt, things are fast paced in the ring, as you are trying to do that timing, you are going to get nailed, unless your timing comes to you naturally and you can hit them most times. Otherwise you throw that jab out, you miss and you have been hit clean in the face.

Yep I really disliked it and can remember the feeling of it.

I cant remember any of the hits I have taken after my first ones however... its because you get used to them and just shrug them off. I get hit and go home and it makes no difference to me whereas before I would go home and think about it all night.

Its near on impossible to time it if you are in with someone who knows their head movement. And once you have missed thats when you're vulnerable. Its better to take other paths other than ¨timing it¨ like feinting them into a bad position and countering their counters... for example.

It hurts. I cried like a little girl the first time I took a big punch to the face. Then I threw up. I still get shaky after someone lands a really heavy punch.

Yup. I was a heavy at the time. I just freaked out. It wasn't even that it hurt -- it did, but that wasn't what made it so traumatic -- it just blew a fuse inside me or something. I think I was in shock. The guy who'd clocked me told me, "I wouldn't have hit you that hard if I didn't think you was man enough to take it."

Even so, it was not one of my prouder moments.

But I came back the next day. That was a proud moment.
