How do you have you thumb?

if I have it under my fingers when I make a fist, my thumb tends to hit the targer, so I keep my thumb at the side , bent and pointing out. Need to test on my bag, though

Yeh if I do that though, the thumb is right by finger so its like finger and thumb are level, so if you hit it hits your thumb
