First post here. I started taking a boxing fitness course at my gym by an ex pro. Well, let me just say I have respect for ALL of you guys. This started about 3 months ago and they have been the most intense vomit inducing workouts that I've ever done. Anyway, he was really happy with my progress and as a result I started going to the boxing gym that he trains out of. He asked me if I wanted to continue to just get in shape or if I wanted to learn the art of boxing, to which I said I did. That was about a month ago. So last night, I actually did three rounds of controlled sparring wtih him, learning how to move, keep jabbing, counterpunch etc. It was grueling. I took some and landed some but it was a great experience and it is such a complex sport. Anyway, I look forward to learning a lot from you guys so just be patient with my quetions.

    Thanks,

    Mike

You respect boxing a lot more when you realize how difficult it is to actually land a punch against a guy who knows what hes doing lol.

Ive only done offensive sparring once. My coach basically told me to let loose on a guy, who was working on defense, and the guy couldnt punch back. He had no head gear on either. Well in 4, 2 minute rounds, I landed about 4 head shots. I was exhausted at the end too because he was trying to be Mayweather in there lol. He was moving the whole time. I cought him with good body shots, and one left hook to the head that made me proud, but other than that, one body shot by him and I would have been down for the count lol. I was tired, and hes good enough to go to nationals, but hes having a kid soon.

I get in there for real in about another week. Im ready for whatever.
