  • I learned a valuable lesson 2nyt at boxing.

My Trainer told us all to get ready for sparring, 2 other lads done a round then i was told i was next in, my trainer was like, im gonna put u in with this new boy to give him abit sparring, he's just a young lad, dont go in there and tear his head of, just go nice and easy on him get him moving abit, i was like fair enough, i didnt want to sicken the boy, cos i know what its like being the youngest in the ring, plus the boy just dus not look like the boxing type, he looks like the kind that would play chess, so i went out touched gloves and was just throwing soft slow punches and he just punched me as hard as he could square on the nose lol, was a ****ing good shot i give him that, my eyes ran like ****, i kinda gave a small laugh of cos i was ****ing shocked, the boy was quite a hard puncher, so i was like **** this so i just kept him moving, every time he came to punch me i would just block them throw out a few jabs and move, he kept running at me like he was wanting to kill me, i dunno if its just cos it was his 1st time and he was abit scarred and didnt know what to do, so i just started duckin his punches or stepping back hiting him with a few punches then move.

I felt he did ok for his 1st time sparring, he's got alot to learn but for his 1st time in the ring he done not bad. It just shows never judge a book by its cover

I learnt the same lesson when I got in with a kid who was pretty stocky but even smaller than myself. He was in the army and tough as nails. I was told to go easy like you so even when he hit me I felt I couldnt really retaliate like I normally would. Anyway, he was just pawing with the jab and then out of nowhere he hit me with a right and that was it. I knew he had strength from that point out, I didnt wanna get tagged like that again, so I just outworked him. A classic way to beat inexperienced kids, is to outwork, outbox and frustrate them. Their punch count goes down and then you dont have to face too many hard shots.... it was just lucky it was me who had the experience and not him. Because I didnt take it hard on him, but I reckon he woulda taken it hard on me.

its usually the ones who dont know what to do, theres this other lad at our gym whos older than me and a good bit heavier, he always trys to knock my block off, i just outbox the **** out of him , he thinks he's some kind of great boxer, he's ******, he refuses to wear a headguard, and gets really frustrated when a 17 year old outboxes him, he's gonna have to be the fittest person alive if he wants to win his 1st fight, or just slow down and listen to my trainer and learn to box.

I learned it the hard way.
my trainer and colleagues are just shooking their heads when I got clean hits from this guy.

well I was the one who was new at that time prob. 2 months on that gym and he was 2-3 years there already.but I was well trained already from diff. arts before.and when our trainer ask us to spar I was just well ok bring it on.
and that guy who looks like a nerd to me and a bit skinny( I am over 180 lbs.that time he was 140-160) he was shaking his head giving some signs of refusal to sparr with me.

this happen after my almost 2 years hiatus from training and focusing other things in life besides mma and boxing.

well I was trying to prove something back then.neverminding that I was out of shape and hell lot of rusty.I punch hard and am exp. than my opp.but I can`t react the way I used too that time.

                we where both southpaw.
I wanted to prove and show my skills that time as I was the new guy then.

but I was ****** to engage him quickly to an infight without preparations.
I weave like crazy (neglecting my def. trying to showw off) as I weave to the right I tried to give him my sundaypunch (when it was meant to be a counter for jabs of an orthodox fighter)slippin inside(left in my case),weaving right then return with a full force hook!!! so I did my sunday punch ,then he gave me an uppercut square on the jaw(wham!!! and then I see some white lights) I was backed by that punched.(what was I thinking?)I was trying to showoff neglecting my way of boxing and how to adapt with certain fighters.(I forgot to do some checking first and just go at my best shots neglecting everything else)

I was backed by that punch( I was like oh ****!!! a counter punch)
just as I weaved he gave me an uppercut.

I was a bit mad and I wanted to finish him off(I was like screw this)
I lunge at him tried to do a lunging uppercut.but then again I was too far.and he countered with another uppercut right on my nose .
I was backed again the when I look up he was there to finish me.

he throw some combinations I was glad I can still see them and block them all.
then as I shuffle away blood was spilling allover my chest my nose was running like hell.

so I just signall to stop the fight.

well I took that fight as a lesson and tried to check things first what my opp. can do before going ape**** when I fight.
I always think of ways how to adapt first and be very cuatious on what strengths my opp. seems to have.
