  • Question about sleeping

What amount of hours can a boxer work good with? I know eight hours is the best but can a boxer get a good workout with six or seven hours? And if a boxer does get only like five hours should he still work out or rest?

It depends on the person and how hard you train. Some people can sleep 5 hours and be good to go but I wouldn't recommend it. I would say that 7-9 hours of sleep is optimal. Try to have it so that you don't get less than 7, especially if you're going to spar the next day. Remember that if you don't sleep enough, it keeps on adding up. 7 hours should be fine.

Better to get a full eight hours of solid, deep, restful sleep every night. I found it interesting that in Ayurvedic medicine it is believed there are cycles that are the most conducive for certian activities. Going to bed at 10:00 p.m. and arising at 6:00 a.m. appears to allow the body to rest the deepest, rejuvenate the most, and gives the person the most energy throughout the day. Also its been said that hormones that heal the body are released only between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., and are only released when the body is in deep sleep.

A fighter shouldn't keep late nights, and especially not while in training.

        8 hours is good
anything less you will be too tired throughout the day
anything more, you tend to be more lazy throughout the day

you get used to it after awhile too, i like it

I have noticed that when I get a good 7 hours of sleep I feel my best and ready to get up. If I sleep any less I feel real tired and if I sleep more, I want to stay in bed.

Thats far from what Im getting now though ever since I started school back up.

the "you should get eight hours of sleep" recommendation is a MYTH.

"A six-year study Kripke headed up of more than a million adults ages 30 to 102 showed that people who get only 6 to 7 hours a night have a lower death rate than those who get 8 hours of sleep."
