    Question.

Hey yall, I don't post here but I have a question. Right now, I train MMA. Not full time, but train BJJ/Muay Thai/Judo. However, I find boxing VERY interesting and it's something I'd love to do. I just turned 18. If I found a boxing trainer would I be able to go anywhere w/ it starting so late in my life? Or would it just add to my conditioning/MMA arsenal.

18 isnt bad. I started at 18. Theres a guy I train with who started at 25 and in 5 months hes already 2-0 as an amatuer. All these guys talk about it being too late, but only a small amount of boxers are actually sucsessful as pros to begin with.

I started at 16 and thought that was late, the longer you deliberate over it the longer you are gonna be missing out on the gym and experience.

18 is young. In boxing, you can make your own success, just work hard and spar with the best people in your gym. That's the fastest way to success.

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna try and find a boxing gym or at least coach somewhere in my area.

Unless you are fighting for serious money, or big money is in the immediate future, you are wasting your time in both sports. Boxing will help with you punching skills and footwork, however....

Yeah. By "doing anything" w/ boxing, I meant not getting my ass kicked too bad in amature fights by people who've been doing it since they were 12.

And I love training MMA. I'd never quit unless I had no choice.

hey, you could also train a boxing oriented martial art. from what i've heard, royce gracie says that one of the MAs i practice is one of the best he's seen. probably because it can be easily combined with bjj.
