How does Toney fall with slow jabs?

That's the .gif I got it off Kid Achilles signature. I thought punches were supposed to be snapped and fast, especially jabs. But Peter's jabs were slow with no snap, espcially the fist one.

I understand that they're pro's, but still. How does an experienced fighter like James Toney fall to 3 slow jabs?

because he squared up his feet and then tried to lean back to avoid the jabs and since he is older and overweight he couldnt keep his balance and fell over. He wasnt hurt at all.

**** that was a pretty fast and stiff jab especially fast for a HW of Peters size.....he was squared up and a bit off balance but that was a hell of a jab Peter threw almost all night......I don't know where you see slow and without snap.

The punch wasnt slow, your computer is, so it seems slow.

it is slow, it is a slow pushing jab and he never even brought that last two back all the way.

Obviously wasnt that slow though was it. It knocked the guy down. Toney was off balance a little and that was due to Peter's jab work, keeping him guessing. And then boom, a few shots he doesnt expect.

The gif is clearly in slow motion. Tyson's punches would have looked slow at that speed. Did you see that fight? The jab that connected in the gif was decent, but not the best one Sam landed in the fight. His jab was landing consistently the whole fight. Made a sound like a right hand landing at times. Very hard punch.

If you notice, Toney keeps trying to move his head back to dodge the punch. Peter kept sticking his jab while circling Toney so eventually Toney was squared up, and when he tried dodging the punch again, Peter landed and Toney went down. If you lean back while you are squared up, it doesnt take much to put you down.

Just goes to show you how far Peter has gone.

Ok, thanks for the input. But I'm mainly looking at the first one. When he extended his arm, he just kept it there stiff. Is that just a style of a jab to keep it hard or ???

And yeah, I shouldn't have said "slow" I guess I meant stiff and that he never brought his hand back.

As you gain more experience in training you will notice that some men have more power in their fists than others. Even their arm punches can hurt you. That knock down was really an accident. What matters is Toney's deteriorating defensive skills set himself up for a date with the canvass. Peter really didn't have much to do with it, he was just aimlessly throwing punchs with his usual sloppy technique and one happened to knock Toney down. The notion that Peter has suddenly become a skilled boxer is simply laughable.
