In terms of protective gear I can see your point, but boots and gloves are not protective gear.

I was at the gym the other day, normally when I am finishing about 25 people show up cause they have a class of mostly kids from it looks around 12 to 19 that starts. I was sitting there unwrapping my hands and rolling up the wraps, and this chubby little 12 year old looking little kid walks by wearing the all black Roy Jones shoes. Now, I wear some white RIngside shoes that I bought for $14.95 because they are supposed to be gym shoes meaning I can get them dirty and wore out and its no problem cause thats what they're for. I plan on fighting pro one day and for a fight I would get those Jordans, I dream of the day I can be wearing those ****in shoes in the ring. This is liitle idiot is walking around in $120 shoes for the gym and he isnt even good, he didnt really do anything that I saw, eventually he started working but he was just going through the motions and playing games. I dont understand why he would need the absolute top of the line boxing shoe, when IM sure he doesnt even compete and doesnt seem to take this serious.

Yesterday, once again Im sittin their unwrapping and I see this guy about my age (19) hitting one of the heavybags with some white Winning gloves. Now I see the Roy Jones shoes and Grant gloves and I really want them. But I realize that I dont really need tham at this point, I am still just getting back in the swing off things and havent competed yet. If I ever become succesful as a pro then I can see actually getting the high end stuff, but why in the world does a goofy 19 year old that seemed akward hittin the bag and obviously isnt a succesful pro need $150 top of the line gloves that Mayweather uses???

I understand that they can buy and use whatever they want but come on now.

In today's world of boxing looking cool is as important as winning. You can be a conformist and go along with the crowd or you can use your common sense. You choice of equipment should be on whether it furthers your career in boxing, assuming you are serious about boxing. If you are getting in the ring just to make a fashion statement then you will need to get the most fashionable gear.

I HATE how other people, especially Basketball players warm up by shadow boxing like they are about to fight. It is ****in ridiculous, you dont see boxers backstage dribbling a ball to warm up for a fight. Those ***gots get touched on their arm and they fall down and call foul.

and they aren't fouling for contact, they are fouling becuase it'd be pretty boring and cheap if you could slap the guys hand every time they shoot the ball

so would football be a ***** sport? you can get penalized for barely moving someone off balance or holding onto someone for the shortest moment

well, I think you should be in the middle. When I see people that dont have **** I think they dont take it serious unless they are dirt poor. If they have high end **** they are just trying to show off. People like me are in the middle, I make sure I have everything I would need for the gym but I dont really care about brand name.

at the end of the day its not what you wear going to make you a better boxer is how intense and dedicated you train.
