  • Hitting the bag, Hard and fast?

Ive been trying to improve my heavy bag work and ive noticed my punching speed has increased. I used to be alot heavier and when i hit the bag it swang relativley far. Now I try and hit it fast, recently ive managed to get it to make a slapping noise, i feel like this means im hitting it really hard and fast as it used to only make that noise on my left hook.

Am i still hitting it hard if it makes a sharp slapping noise but doesnt swing as much? I USED to push with my punches. I want to have 1 punch KO power and i need to know if im on the right track...i do have a trainer who says i have good technique but its holidays now so hes not here to help.

17 minutes?! you bumpped it after 17 minutes!!

anywho sounds like a good thing if you quicker and more powerful, if you are no longer pushig at the end of a punch it means you will recover faster sso will be able to throw the next punch sooner.
      keep doing what your doing!

ime the soud the bag makes should be a loud thud but it should be sharp if it sounds too 'slappy' you probably arent getting alot of weight in the punch

Thanks hemi..Well the slapping might have something to do with my gloves and the material of the bag as this sound does not occur on other heavy bags. Ill try and put as much weight into my punch as possible whiles still being fast. BTW i knew i was gonna get roasted for the bump but i was waiting to go outside and hit the bag and i wanted to know if i was going about it the right way. Anybody else have any opinions about the sharp slapping noise when think u land a fast punch.

Snapping sound just tells u ur punching correctly by not leaving ur hand there after u punch. Pretty much the "snap" is you throwing and returning your hand back to defensive position as quickly as possible. This determines the quickenss of your punch.

*Sorry for gramatical errors typed it fast
