    heavy bag gloves?

at my gym i use 18 oz. gloves for sparring and 14 or 16 oz. gloves for the heavybag. i was considering purchasing the everlast high performance heavy bag gloves, which are 10 ounces, to use on the reflex bag and possibly some on the heavybag. my first fight is several months away and I'll be at lightweight or lt. welterweight so i figure 10 oz. gloves would be nice to replicate the feel of the amateur competition gloves.

can anyone tell me what the advantages (if any) of doing this would be. ads often say that these lighter gloves help improve hand speed, but it seems more logical that working with heavy gloves would do this.

    thanks,
    adam

You are putting yourself at a disadvantage. Use the heavier 16 oz gloves at least. This will make training better and protect your arms/shoulders. I tell you from 4 years of fighting, if you use 10oz on the heavybag, over time it will hurt you. My left shoulder is jacked because of that.
