  • preventing muscle loss during cutting...

    hey all,
what is the best way to prevent muscle loss when you are cutting? Should I still try and eat alot of protein, just not as much and obviously while cutting out all the fats and carbs etc..?

Its hard man...youre gona lose some muscle. If u lift weights while trying to cut then you are obviously gonna cut less and at a slower rate. So basically u have to cut back on lifting when u are trying to cut...your body will want more food/calories when your lifting and thats not what u want when youre cutting.

I once cut from 220 to 199 for a tournament. Before I began the cutting I used to bench press 225 for 19 reps. Once I started focusing on cutting and cardio, I almost completely cut out the weights. 3 months later after the tourney was done I couldnt bench 185 for 5 reps. I could barely curl 40 pound dumbbells, it was un ****in real how much muscle and stength i lost. I was wrestling my boy one day, and I used to toss this ****er around like a rag doll and all of a sudden he was slamming me all over the place. That was when I said **** this cutting ****, I'm competing at super heavyweight.

But I didnt do it the right way. Didnt intake enough protein and didnt maintain my muscles the correct way. I was doing strictly boxing and doing it all natural with a low cal diet.
