    Protein while cutting?

Is protein important during the cutting stage? I'm eating about 1500-1800 cals a day while trying to drop some weight...doing cardio e/o day and high-rep weight training to keep my muscles in use. I know it's important to build muscle but you need an excess of cals to build...I will have a deficiency.

Here's the thing. I'm trying to trasform my body by June 1. I've got 15-20 lbs of extra weight probably (5'10, 175lbs)...and so I'm just going to cut until the New Year and then start to clean bulk and weight train. I will be boxing, but for workout/fitness purposes...I don't wanna go amatuer or anything cause it's too late to start the craft (25). I'll likely get only 8-10 off by that time but that'll be fine for now.

you need protein all the time. ****...1500 calories im 20lbs lighter and eatin up around 3500 and make it up with ridiculous training. You need the protein to maintain your muscle and you should be getting 1 gram per pound you weigh
