  • URGENT! medical opinions needed

Yesterday i did a very tough cardio workout- ran 6 and half miles up hills, went on the bike for 12 and half miles and backed it up with a 2 mile run at very quick pace. Got home went to the toilet and pissed out blood. I then drank a full bottle of water and went to the toilet again and my urine was back to normal colour. Went to the doctors to get urine sample done to see what was going on. Today i worked on the bag and went for a run again. Again the same thing happened- got home went to the toilet and pissed out blood again. Drank bucketloads of water and urine went back to normal colour again.

My question is does anyone think that could be dehydration? Has this happened to anyone? I will get some results within the week and i may need blood samples.

Yes, it is possible to have blood in urine secondary to vigorous exercise, because most commonly it is seen in the setting of long distance running, etc. Overall, I recommend that it may be worth getting a cystoscopy to know exactly what is happening inside your bladder. Modern cystoscopy is very safe and rarely damages the penis or bladder. Usually it is done as an outpatient procedure using a flexible instrument.
Hope this information will be of some help to you.

Painless - this is important; how often do you bike? A LOT of times if your on a stationary bike or if you get fatigued on a bike your body puts more pressure on the "seat" and you can do a little internal damage to your urinary tract. Its possible that it wasn't your kidneys or upper-insides, but rather tear damage to your lower anatomy. Ask your doctor about it is the best way to go.

Yikes! I do plenty of bike riding. I don't get any pain around the sides of the stomach or towards the back so i suspect it isn't anything near there. But after reading your post i might have second thoughts about the bike for the time being. This is all going to be trouble for me- physical exercise is like a drug to me and i may be forced to take it easy for a while until i find out exactly what's going on. Thanks for the tip though i sure appreciate it right now as it worries me!

Don't want to sound like a know-it-all in my very first post but you might want to get checked for rhabdomyolysis, buddy.

For ****s sake, dimwit. Why are people soooooo ******? I'm also on a bodybuilding website and people are always asking ****** questions like this. What the hell does a BOXING site have to do with modern medicine?

Would you take the advice of somebody on here you don't even know= what are their credientals to give medical advice? Even if they are a doc or something, can they really diganose you over a computer without tests?

I was a paramedic for 14 years ending this sept. If you have a problem, get EXPERT medical advice not from a ****** board where any joe blow can and will mislead you even if unintentional.

There is an old saying in law that anybody who represents theirself has a fool for a client. Well, medicine is the same. Anybody who diagnoses theirself has a quack for a doctor.

Pissing blood fits the classification of................unnatural. Get checked. DUH!!!

i'm not an expert by any means but heres what i think:

When you work out sweating causes you to dehydrate. Which is why you need to keep yourself hydrated. So you doing all that is really going to dehydrate you. Pissing gets rid of bodily fluids, which is why if you drink alot of water you'll need to piss more often. So it's got to get to a point where there is nothing else to piss out apart from blood. So i think not hydrating yourself properly for that level of training is your problem.
But like i said i'm not an expert so you really should go and see someone qualified.
