he drew with Ray Austin for christs sake. and I had him losing the fight by a point or 2. for supposedly being the 'more exciting ibragimov brother' he looked like **** against a journeyman. would anyone pick ray austin against briggs??

I think everyone here is underrating Ibragimov severely. You can't criticize a guy for struggling a little with an opponent who was taller and fought an almost completely defensive fight. Ibragimov is one of the more talented heavyweights out there, and one of the most exciting to watch. He has a bright future in boxing, brighter than Briggs for sure.

Briggs is as tall as Ray Austin, except he is quicker and has more power plus a better reach. If Ray Austins reach bothered sultan...Cant imagine what Briggs would do to him.

Austin is 6'6" while Briggs is 6'3" 1/2". Briggs does not fight as tall as Austin did in the Sultan fight, so that comparison does not work. By your logic, Lance Whittaker should have beaten the crap out of Ibragimov if the guy didn't know how to get past a fighter's reach.

Briggs is 6'4 with an 80 reach

now you figure if briggs can give him more trouble with his speed, power, + reach, briggs is shorter than austin but has the same reach, which will be an advantage again Ibragimov

I've not seen Austin fight, but his resume is very ordinary. If this Ibragimov guy was anything special, surely he would have won fairly convincingly. Either way, Briggs or Ibragimov have a chance to put things right in their fight.

One performance does not break a fighter, especially when it's a draw and not a loss. You guys make me laugh. Austin is better than his record, and Ibragimov was kicking his ass early until Austin finished strong late in the fight and picked up some rounds. Ray Austin is not Shannon Briggs.

We'll have to wait before I can say "I told you so" but Sultan Ibragimov will redeem himself in this fight.
