It would mean everything for Oscar and everything for PBF as well if DLH wins. Oscar will retire comfortably knowing he has beat what others believed to be the pound4pound best. We all know Oscar is great, and no one has really denied his greatness. However, a Floyd loss will mean that Floyd may not retire. His ego can't take retiring on a loss!! Not to Oscar!

On the other hand, if Floyd wins, his fate is solidified. An Oscar loss will mean very little to his fate.

Believe me.. Oscar is time enough for Floyd. Even through Floyd's speed may be a challenge, Oscar is no laughing matter. He's greater than ANY fighter Floyd has ever fought. I think Floyd will be extending his boxing career, hoping for a rematch with Oscar!

Oscar should at least fought him at 147.

Par usual, drez is correct...or close to it. Oscar's legacy would be cemented so deeply that he could go on and lose to 3 bums in a row in the 1st round and it wouldn't matter. A loss to ODLH wouldn't be that big of a deal just because the size difference is an easy way to suggest it was a bad matchup... A win would be big but criticisms can be made simply due to ODLH's age, other fights PBF "should have" taken, and the fact that ODLH might be somewhat of a legend but his track record isn't exactly spectacular.

I didn't know that you guys read The Sun.

Wow, it looks like Oscar's fleecing him on the money. LMAO, that must be killing Floyd. If those purse figures are correct it looks like Floyd's claim that he got $9m against Baldy is total bull****, which the PPV sales would also seem to back up.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER’S dad insists his son will get his ass kicked by Oscar De La Hoya.

Unbeaten Mayweather is stepping up a weight in an attempt to snatch De La Hoya’s WBC world light-middleweight crown on May 5.

But estranged dad Floyd Snr — who has trained De La Hoya since 2001 — reckons his lad has been motivated by greed. The bout will be the richest non-heavyweight title fight in history.

Mayweather Jnr, 29, will pocket a career-best £5.3million purse — with De La Hoya, 33, getting over £13m to meet the world welterweight champ.

Floyd Snr blasted: “This is a case of greed over common sense and he’s going to pay for it.

“It’s not about him wanting to fight Oscar, it’s about him wanting to hurt his daddy.

“But he’s going to have a surprise and is going to wind up on his ass.

“Little Floyd is fighting out of his weight class.”

But Mayweather Jnr, who has not spoken to his dad for two years, is adamant he will not lose his perfect 37-0 record.

He said: “I will knock him out.”

De La Hoya, who has lost four of 42 fights, intends to talk with Floyd Snr before he starts training. He said: “I want to look into his eyes and see if he’s going to be as passionate as I am.”

does anybody here realise that oscar has ALL the advantages to gain here....if Floyd beats him he's the best P4P ever....as much as i would hate that its true....oscar is the bigger man.....has the bigger punch....has the reach advantage....has been in the big stage many times.....and has the p4p #1 fighters dad in his corner....what else can he ask for?.....if oscar loses it hurts him more than it hurts floyd.....

Well Emanuel Steward always says Oscar isnt great because he never beat another great fighter in his prime. After Oscar beat FLoyd, STeward is going to have shut up.

it would be a huge win for both guys... and oscar has a pretty good chance to win... he's taller, bigger, stronger, hits harder, and has very fast hands... he's also faced two guys similar to pbf, while pbf has not faced anyone like oscar...

quite simply, it's the biggest fight in both of their careers. this fight is huge.

                    1. It's another thing to put in DLH's trivia section at his Hall of Fame induction. He doesn't need a Mayweather fight to cement his legacy, though.

                    2. I'm not sure it does much more for PBF, but there's more at stake for Floyd with the fight. He's fighting Oscar very late in his career.

                    3. I'd like to think Oscar has a shot. The Oscar that fought Sturm, though, can't show up and win. I imagine Floyd will be favored. The fact that the fight is at 154 favors DLH.

                    4. I believe Oscar will stick to singing ****ty ballads.
