Mayweather vs. Baldomir brings weak PPV numbers!

because you have to have good footwork to properly pressure someone like what your describingMargarito's punch is overrated. He's always been an accumulation type puncher but lately he's been fighting bums and knocking them out easy. Now everyone says he's this huge puncher.
A pressure fighter is a fighter that comes forward. Margarito likes to stay at a distance in order to landing those wide looping punches. Just look at all these highlight videos of Margarito. He always has space between himself and the opponent. If he fought up close then he wouldn't be able to land his punches.Comment

i agree, juarez/barrera did bad, mexican glory did bad, the tyson ppv did bad, those numbers are on par with most of the other ppvs that have come out and did well, but they are weak in terms of DLH, which all of the sudden has become the standard, his astronomical numbers are unfair to anybody to compare to.Comment

1st off your late because this has already been talked about and your wrong. Those are a good number of buys e****ally when nobody knows who in the hell Baldy is. Those numbers arent that much lower then most big time PPV fights unless your name is OscarFloyd Mayweather's shutout victory against Carlos Baldomir to win the world welterweight championship last Saturday night in Las Vegas generated 325,000 pay-per-view buys, HBO announced Friday.
Mayweather
The fight, which cost $49.95, generated $16.3 million in television revenue, but was the weakest performing of the three cards Mayweather has headlined on HBO PPV.
Both of his previous HBO PPV fights, which cost $44.95, did more business.
Mayweather's lopsided decision win against Zab Judah in April generated 374,000 buys and $16.8 million in revenue and his June 2005 destruction of Arturo Gatti to win a junior welterweight belt generated 365,000 buys and $16.5 million.

Baldy had no chance. I don't like arum but he has a point. Baldy is a club fighter.
HBO PPV announced that Floyd Mayweather’s bout against Carlos Baldomir did 325,000 buys. If you put this in perspective, Pacquiao and Morales, two featherweights who really don't speak English will most likely do anywhere between 350,000-400,000 subscriptions next weekend. Also, Mayweather’s previous pay-per-view telecasts did around 370,000 buys, so this can be looked on as a step backward in the building of 'the Pretty Boy' as a pay-per-view franchise.
Arum added: "Floyd's a great, great talent but that's who he should be fighting. Somebody that challenges him. Not a club fighter like Baldomir."Last edited by t_tsuguri; 11-13-2006, 07:12 PM.Comment

Spot on, HBO would have taken 325K before the fight with no problems!
The fight had the potential to do a whole helluva a lot worse based on the matchup, 325 was damn good!Comment

325,000 ppv is surprisingly very good for what most people on the message boards thought was gonna happen. most predicted it would be less than 200,000!!
practically no one knew who baldomir was, so even without a gatti or judah to ride along with, floyd still pulled off quite a feat and proved that until that point he was actually ppv material (whether that's the case NOW is another story).Last edited by Mistadobalina; 11-13-2006, 07:41 PM.Comment

have u ever stepped into the ring???
and i think anyone who was predicting BALDY was:
a) tryin to piss Mayweather fans off
or
b) Hopeing and wishing so badly, that they convinced themselves that Baldy could do it. but it was just wishful thinking in the end and they knew itComment
