Mayweather vs. Baldomir brings weak PPV numbers!

Floyd Mayweather's shutout victory against Carlos Baldomir to win the world welterweight championship last Saturday night in Las Vegas generated 325,000 pay-per-view buys, HBO announced Friday.

The fight, which cost $49.95, generated $16.3 million in television revenue, but was the weakest performing of the three cards Mayweather has headlined on HBO PPV.

Both of his previous HBO PPV fights, which cost $44.95, did more business.

Mayweather's lopsided decision win against Zab Judah in April generated 374,000 buys and $16.8 million in revenue and his June 2005 destruction of Arturo Gatti to win a junior welterweight belt generated 365,000 buys and $16.5 million.

The fight was predictable to anybody who understand boxing mechanics.

      I agreee............

It was laughable all the guys who right before the fight were saying Baldy would win because he had more power and was bigger.

The people who subscribe to the idea that Baldomir had a realistic shot at winning also think that Mike Tyson will regain the heavyweight title.

How did you come to that conclusion?

Margarito fights in almost the exact same way as Baldomir. I'm starting to think alot of people haven't seen much of Margarito because everyone thinks he's this great pressure fighter. Margarito isn't a pressure fighter. He's maybe a little faster than Baldomir but still he's too slow. His punches are too wide and Mayweather would make him miss almost everything.

What you seen Saturday is what you would see if Mayweather fights Margarito. A very easy fight.

Margarito's punch is overrated. He's always been an accumulation type puncher but lately he's been fighting bums and knocking them out easy. Now everyone says he's this huge puncher.

A pressure fighter is a fighter that comes forward. Margarito likes to stay at a distance in order to landing those wide looping punches. Just look at all these highlight videos of Margarito. He always has space between himself and the opponent. If he fought up close then he wouldn't be able to land his punches.
