I really like Ron Borges, and I also like Steve Kim. On the other hand, I am starting to be bothered by Doug Fischer. As a journalist I don't think you can let your personal biases affect your writing. Clearly he HATES Floyd Mayweather, so either don't write about him or put your hatred of him aside and write an article. If you want to say you favor Margarito, Cintron, Hatton, Collazo, Cotto etc. etc. over Mayweather I have no problem with that. But don't sit there and say that (at the very least) one of the best fighters in the sport would probably lose to all those guys...it just simply isn't very plausible. Again, this isn't about Mayweather for me, its about unbiased reporting. Steve Kim also doesn't like Mayweather but I don't sense the overwhelming hatred that is present with Fischer.Comment

Clearly, and I guess what I didn't articulate was that the reason I like Steve Kim is that I know what his opinion and ideas are without him cramming them down my throat. This allows the article to look like, well, an article instead of a personal hate piece dedicated to an athlete you are supposed to be covering.Comment

Tell me what you think of my Mayweather piece.Comment

I think it is a great article that points out the REALITY of Mayweather's situation. He is a great talent that is wasting a prime part of his career fighting sub-par competition. I have no problem with him fighting DLH for (like you said) a right of passage and money but it won't make him the greatest fighter of all time or anywhere close. I also think Margarito is a good fight, but here is my issue. If Mayweather wins and Margarito has an unspectacular rest of his career, everybody will be saying what we're saying about his competition now...sub-par. On the other hand no arguments here about fighting Hatton and Cotto as they seem like the best 2 opponents out there. I really don't think either of them have any intention of fighting Mayweather anytime soon though (or at least their management has other ideas). Frankly if we're talking legacy there is only one fight that will legitimize Floyd in my opinion, Winky Wright. He is within the range of weight that Mayweather and he can make comfortably and Wright is the bigger, stronger fighter and perhaps only slightly less skilled. I would offer the Pac-Man but the weight differential is impossible to resolve.Comment
That's mad cool, good K
