Ryan Songaila could become an excellent writer. He's already quite good. ESPN needs to hire someone like you. Really all the major sports websites need to put a good young boxing guy on the books. It would pay for itself because Thousands of people are constantly scrolling those sites that have no fresh angles on boxing at all

You should be sending resumes and sample articles to the site managers all the time.

I know, I really should. In the last few months, I've turned down requests from Maxboxing, Doghouseboxing, and Secondsout.com . A notable author who has penned several books and is known as the foremost Ali expert today himself offered me a position, but I had to turn it down because I have loyalties to Boxingscene.

On Tuesday, I'm going to submit a resume' to the Poughkeepsie Journal to become a sports writer for them. I don't like the restrictions, however superficial, of internet writing. It's all business really, if you sever ties with one source then it's bad for business. I want to be a muckraker and ask some tough questions, but without a strong support I can't go in there and do what I want. I need some reinforcement at times that I can't get online.

Thanks alot for the kind words, they mean alot to me.

H.L. Mencken once penned "The job of the columnist is to comfort the afflicted, and afflict the comfortable." With my pen as my sword, my goal is to bring a voice to the voiceless. I'm a working class kid from a working class home whose thoughts and aspirations are that of a working class man. In a world where fighters are condescended upon and taken advantage of while bigwigs in pricey suits reap the spoils of the braver men's spilled blood, reform for terrible injustices is the only justifiable cause of the columnist.

I love boxing, I admire fighters and trainers and everyone else who have made it their function to make the wheels of the game turn. At the same time, I find it hard to justify my enfatuation with a sport that is both violent and cold, yet so seductive and brilliant. When a fighter dies in the ring or is the victim of a bad decision or a mismatch, a bad taste arrives in my throat and once again reaffirms that I have no defense to offer to abolitionists. Boxing is a guilty pleasure, it's always been. But it feels right when done correctly.

Boxingscene is a great site, and better than most boxing-only sites. But isn't it a shame how the general sports sites neglect boxing. ESPN has a link on their main page, but there is so little to link to that that they aren't going to rope the young readers into following boxing. The people who use that site for their information can't know much of what's going on. MSN at least posts links to this site, which is actually how I got here in the first place.

I gothere looking for downloads and discovered that forums are addicting. Mainstream sports sites and media in general has grown disdainful of boxing because of the exploitation and triviality of championship belts by promoters and sanctioning bodies. It has become a WWE type farce to them. National commission, that's all I can hope for.

Exactly, because he is the head boxing writer for the 'worldwide leader in sports'. He's not bad in my opinion, though if I remember correctly there are people here who don't like him.

there are so many fine writers..the ones that stick out most for me:

Steve Kim-funny,knowledge,not afraid to say something that needs to be said
                    Frank Loterizo
                    James Blears
                    Matteo Alderson
                    Keith Terceria
                    Kevin Kincade
                    David P.

                    in no particular order
